Job Description

Koch Foods is searching for a Breeder Tech to at our location in Gadsden, AL. Koch Foods is a leader in the poultry processing industry offering excellent opportunities for growth and leadership. This position offers a robust benefit package and relocation assistance for those who may need it.


The Breeder Service Tech is responsible for overseeing all breeder farms assigned to. The tech  must have good people skills working with a contract producer to ensure the best management practices by pre-checking houses before placement, be at delivery at transfer from the pullet farms, setting up lighting schedule and daily feed increment increases weekly according to egg production and body weight standards, order feed weekly to each farm, keep records and graphs on each flock on weights,  production , fertility and hatch for the entire flock, make sure that all farms are properly disposing of mortality and following all animal welfare guide lines, must use bio-security at all times.


MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Supervises all hens farms assigned to (12-15 farms)
  • Pre-check farms before bird placement
  • Set up feeding program and adjust according to body weight standards
  • Weigh birds weekly until onset of egg production and then periodically thru out the flock
  • Flesh roosters weekly for proper body fleshing for best fertility and hatch
  • Schedule feed deliveries weekly
  • Graph and keep flock  records on body weights, production , feed amounts, fertility and hatch
  • Turn in weights,  mortality, medication tickets and contracts weekly to breeder clerk

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in, Poultry Science or related field or equivalent and education and experience preferred
  • 1 to 3 years relevant work experience in the poultry industry, preferably in live production.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • English language skills (reading and writing) required.
  • Must be well organized to schedule daily work so all farms are visited weekly
  • Strong record keeping skills
