Koch Foods is recruiting an experienced Maintenance Superintendent in Gadsden, AL for a rotating shift, 5pm-5am. Responsible for supervising, assisting and training of all direct reports in order to establish, implement, maintain suitable programs to keep processing equipment operating in an efficient, dependable and safe condition. The superintendent is also responsible for making sure that these goals are reached in a safe and regulatory manner.   • Assist Maintenance Manager or Plant engineer in Analyzing all downtime as to root cause and in determining a course of action to insure to minimize or prevent re-occurrence. This will be done with the discussion involving the Maintenance personnel, their immediate supervisor as well as the Production management if they choose to be involved. Then a recommendation as to prevent re-occurrence will be reviewed discussed agreed upon by Maintenance Manager, Superintendent and Plant manager. Then it will be implemented
  • Assists the Maintenance Manager in the development, implementation, modifying and monitoring of the Maintenance programs, Preventive Maintenance and repair procedures on food processing equipment and machinery to assure it operates in an efficient and dependable manner. This will also include working with supervision and leads to insure proper training is being completed before Maintenance personnel are allowed to complete the Preventive Maintenance without direct follow up by their lead, supervisor and trainer.
  • Assists Maintenance Manager with monitoring and evaluating equipment performance in order to minimize downtime and equipment failure re-occurrence also determining the frequency of rebuilds. Must also participate in the risk assessments and root cause evaluations in order to help to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Assist Maintenance Manager with promotion and implementing of cost savings and continuous improvement programs.
  • Assist Maintenance Manager with Improving communications between Maintenance personnel, Production and Supervisors
  • Assist Maintenance Manager in insuring that Improvement Procedures put in place are followed on a daily basis.
  • Verifies that all direct reports are insuring Daily routines and repairs are being completed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Provides necessary technical support and guidance to all Maintenance Supervisors as well as the Production Management team and their team members.
  • Reviews and ensures necessary documentation is in place and is completed correctly to ensure that established programs are maintained in order to provide documentation required for our various customers.
  • Responsible to assist in leading, training, coaching, and assisting all Maintenance and Production Supervision as well as working with Production Management
  • Assist in the preparation for and execution of customer, corporate, and third party audits.
  • Direct reports include: Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance Lead Persons and Maintenance team members.
  • Provides necessary training, mentoring and other materials as needed to continuously improve team member’s knowledge of equipment.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 5-10 years relevant work experience in the in poultry processing Maintenance Supervision
  • Must be an Analytical thinker with problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. English language skills (reading and writing) are required.
  • Basic computer ability with working knowledge of basic computer programs.
  • Must possess knowledge of poultry processing equipment including Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, excellent trouble shooting and problem solving ability
  • Working Knowledge of Lockout Tagout and other industrial safety practices
  • Basic Working knowledge of Refrigeration systems used in poultry processing.
  • Working and Basic Knowledge of HACCP, USDA and Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Must be able to work on flexible schedule in order to work coverage for Supervision vacations or absenteeism or as needed on opposite shift. Primary working shift to be nights
  • Must be capable of reading simple electrical schematics and prints in order to provide direction in installations, layout modifications and repairs.
